St. Augustine Parish


The Parish of St. Augustine of the Apostolic Vicariate of Taytay, Palawan is one of the three parishes in the island of Busuanga; the other two being the Parish of St. Joseph Freinademetz in Barangay Turda, Coron and the Parish of Nuestra SeƱora de Salvacion in Busuanga. It was founded in 1901.

Present Parish Priest is Rev. Fr. Jose Eddie Penafiel. (With Comelec Commissioner Rene Sarmiento during the Smartmatic PCOS Orientation for the 2010 Automated Elections)


Previous parish priests were Rev. Fr. Manny Manlavi, Rev. Msgr. Jose D. Delfin, Ph.D., Rev. Fr. Leovigildo Magbanua and Rev. Fr. Camilo Caabay.

Coron (from Wikipedia)

Coron is a 2nd class municipality in the province of Palawan, Philippines. According to the 2000 census, it has a population of 32,243 people in 6,264 households.

The municipality covers part of Busuanga Island and all of the nearby Coron Island. Both islands are part of the Calamian Group of Islands in northern Palawan. The main industries of Coron are fishing and tourism, being a popular diving location.

The aquatic views from the sunken Japanese warships off Coron Island are listed in Forbes Traveler Magazine’s top 10 best scuba diving sites in the world.[1][2]
